Abstract

This research aims to map the main technologies governing the bodies of Olympic athletes. For this purpose, the approach proposed by Michel Foucault is used as a scope of investigation. He considers that within the modern and contemporary world, the bodies of Olympic athletes have become one of the main focuses of investment in control and governance technologies. Despite the specificity of the field, it is foreseeable that it will spread to other domains. In view of the holding, for the third time, of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, as well as the close historical relationship that France has with the creation of the modern Olympic Games, as well as the outstanding tradition in research and studies in this field, we understand that It is very opportune to carry out a diagnosis of such technologies in a historical context. For exploratory research purposes, the French documentary and bibliographic collection stands out notably. To achieve the intent of this project, research stages are proposed at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, documentation and research centers, as well as libraries at the main French universities related to the topic. Likewise, institutions such as INSEP - National Institute of Sport and Physical Education - and CREPS - Center for Resources, Competence and Sports Performance Île-de-France stand out in research and innovation in this field. These institutions will be the subject of technical visits, bibliographic and documentary research, as well as interviews with experts, to create a historical-genealogical overview of the topic.
