Abstract

The interaction between pre-existing intestinal inflammation and gut health is a topic of growing interest, especially regarding potential sex-specific differences. This undergraduate research activity aims to investigate the impact of colitis and its differences in the intestines of male and female mice. The study will use dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) to induce colitis and examine whether sex differences influence responses in mouse models. By exploring these interactions, we aim to gain insights into potential sex-related immune responses and their involvement in gut health, in order to guide further studies of the thematic project.
