Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the cyclic and torsional fatigue resistance of a new reciprocating instrument, CC One Blue (CC 25.08 - Bondent, Shanghai, China), and compare it with the Reciproc Blue instrument (RB 25.08 - VDW, Munich, Germany). A total of 40 instruments (n=20) will be required for the mechanical tests of this study. The cyclic fatigue test will be conducted in an artificial canal with a curvature of 60 degrees and a radius of 5 mm to assess the time and number of cycles until fracture (n=10), in an environment simulating body temperature. The instruments will be activated according to the manufacturers' recommendations. The torsion test will be performed according to the ISO 3630-1 specification. This test aims to evaluate the torque (N.cm) and the angular deflection (°) necessary for the fracture of the first 3 mm of the instruments' tips (n=10). At the end of the tests, the instruments will be examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to verify the topographic characteristics of the fractured surfaces of the instruments. The data will then be recorded and subjected to statistical tests.
