Abstract

This project proposes a six-month research internship (April/2025 to September/2025) at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina). During such period, under the supervision of Professor Eduardo Enrique Domenech, I intend to develop activities related to my doctoral research on the imprisonment and expulsion processes of foreigners between 1930 and 1988, emphasizing on bibliographical and archival research. The internship at the National University of Córdoba, as well as Domenech's supervision, will be of utmost value for my project, since Domenech is a reference in migration studies, which should allow me to access papers dedicated to the periods that cover my research and related themes: a) migration control; b) criminalization of foreigners and c) mobilities in South America. By means of supervision and participation in groups coordinated by Domenech, I will stay in contact with a network of researchers who share common themes, which shall bring closer ties between Argentine researchers and those at Unicamp at postgraduate level. It is also planned to do some field research at the Archivo General de la Nación and the Archivo Nacional de Chile, as these institutions hold documents relating to transnational cooperation between Brazil and South American countries, as well as inquiries into the expulsion or imprisonment of migrants in Argentina and Chile. In doing so, this research seeks to contribute to the field of transnational mobility studies, especially with regard to migratory control and the criminalization of foreigners.
