Abstract

Hair and skin are constantly exposed to exposome factors, which can alter hair growth, cause damage to the hair fiber, and lead to premature skin aging. Thus, cosmetic formulations can play a role in preventing such damage. However, considering that cosmetic production can have an environmental impact due to the extensive use of natural resources required for its manufacture, it is essential to develop cosmetic formulations that incorporate sustainable raw materials. Hence, Black Soldier Fly larvae oil and Avocado oil, extracted using the supercritical fluid method and aqueous extraction, respectively, can be a strategy in the development of more sustainable cosmetics. Due to their clean and green extraction methods, these oils can be used as alternative raw materials to oils extracted with organic solvents harmful to the environment. However, sustainability must be associated with the efficacy of cosmetic formulations, making it necessary to conduct clinical studies to verify the effectiveness of these formulations.In this context, this study aims to develop and evaluate the rheological behavior, texture and spreadability profile, and clinical efficacy of cosmetic formulations for skin and hair care containing Black Soldier Fly larvae oil (Hermetia illucens L.) and Avocado oil (Persea americana Mill).
