Abstract

In response to the growing need to meet sustainability parameters for the planet, the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda emerges as a strategic solution to measure sustainability. However, there is still little discussion about the need to implement ESG in the context of rural producers. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the implementation of ESG to rural sugarcane producers in the state of São Paulo, as well as the strategies for its implementation. Using the SWOT methodology, the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threats of applying ESG in this sector will be examined. Ultimately, it is expected to identify how ESG applies to rural sugarcane producers in the state of São Paulo, in addition to deepening the understanding of the best practices for its implementation.
