Abstract

The transition to electric vehicles is a global trend aimed at reducing air pollution, mitigating climate change, and promoting sustainability in urban transportation. However, while countries like Chile and Colombia have successfully implemented electric buses in their public transport networks, Brazil faces challenges in advancing in this direction. This contrast raises fundamental questions about why some countries have been able to efficiently implement electric buses in their cities, while others face significant obstacles. In the Brazilian context, various factors contribute to this sluggishness, such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of clear public policies, lack of specialized workforce, among other issues.Successful cases in Chile and Colombia serve as models for identifying strategies and best practices to be adapted and applied in Brazil, especially considering the unique characteristics of each region. From this evaluation, the goal is not only to accelerate the adoption of electric buses in Brazil but also to foster innovation, sustainability, new business models, and local economic development in this segment.
