Abstract

The project aims to analyze the methods and strategies that can be applied to assess and manage risk applied to cultural heritage. To this end, it will use the risk assessment methodology developed by researchers linked to the Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Science, the Department of Arts and the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna, who have been considering the risks to cultural heritage in the face of climate change since 2004. The projects are designed from an interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together different fields of knowledge, and among them, the following stand out: Noah's Ark (2004/2007), which focused on meteorological parameters and the most critical changes for built cultural heritage, STRENCH - Strengthening resilience of cultural heritage at risk in a changing environment through proactive transnational cooperation (2020/2022), on the resilience of heritage in the face of climate change, and SIRIUS - Strategie Per La Gestione Del Patrimonio Culturale A Rischio (2021-2022), which aimed to define risk management strategies and action plans in emergency situations for the protection of cultural heritage. For these reasons, approval is expected for this researcher's participation for a period of three months at the aforementioned University, within the scope of discussions on climate change, resilience and sustainability, in order to learn, in loco, the procedures adopted there for the assessment of vulnerabilities and risks that affect cultural heritage in a climate emergency scenario and apply them to heritage sites that are at risk in Brazil.
