Abstract

This research proposes an understanding of the Global Principles for Information Integrity described by the United Nations and other multilateral bodies, such as the OECD. It aims to understand how they provide guidance to ensure the accuracy, consistency and reliability of information in the context of the Global South, especially in Latin America. It is also interested in exploring the specific objectives, considering how these recommendations should impact journalism as a profession, as well as identifying, describing and commenting on the possible challenges to their implementation. The research is exploratory with a qualitative bias and based on the global interest in guaranteeing the integrity of information and the urgent need to combat disinformation and hate speech.
