Abstract

This project studies potential evapotranspiration (PET) and its relevance in the context of climate change, as it is essential for agricultural planning, climate modeling, and water resource management. However, Brazil lacks a comprehensive database that incorporates recent projections in the context of climate change. The project's objective is to build a national PET database using CMIP6 projections, considering two future scenarios (SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5), one being a more moderate scenario and the other an extreme scenario regarding greenhouse gas emissions. For this, four PET calculation methods will be used for 10 climate models present in the CLIMBra database, which includes all the variables necessary for PET calculation. The database will follow the principles and guidelines stipulated by FAIR (Wilkinson et al., 2016), ensuring the accessibility and reusability of the developed methods and data. The analysis will evaluate changes in PET projections at different temporal scales and hydrographic basins, highlighting variability among methods and scenarios. The results are expected to contribute to water resource planning and climate change adaptation, as well as promote data dissemination within the scientific community.
