Abstract

This research aims to analyze the possible contributions of marginal-peripheral literature to the maintenance of a counter-hegemonic culture in the Brazilian literary scene today. Through a historical survey, it was identified that the literary centrality produced by the elites in the 20th century resulted in the emergence of literary forms that are framed as outside the center, or counter-hegemonic. Thus, marginal-peripheral literature, from the 1990s onwards, encouraged the production of books that portray marginalized groups, allowing these people to speak for themselves, unlike the populist novels (Santiago, 1982, p.30) produced by the elites. The survey also highlights that the increase in popularity of marginal-peripheral writers through slams since 2008, allowed these authors to participate in spaces never before accessed by the previous generation, indicating an integration with hegemonic and centrist meanings. The research aims to carry out a qualitative analysis of the work A quebrada dixava (2020), by collective 2 of Cohab, in order to verify which internal and external factors bring the authors of the slam generation closer to a counter-hegemonic culture in Brazilian literature.
