Abstract

The recent project of doctorate is inserted in a interdisciplinary area that promotes an intersection among cultural studies, postcolonial theory and literary studies in the field of contemporary sociology. In this way, the reserch aims to analyse the novels Mayombe by Pepetela, and Terra Sonâmbula by Mia Couto. Our hypothesis is the literary texts, transforming the nation in narrative, excavate the colonial experience and fracture the national culture in spaces/subjetcs of difference, showing a multiethinic national arrangement, a plurilinguistic space, a cultural diversity that negotiates, contests and/or deconstruct the repertoire of native tradition and modernity. So, we raised the following questions: Which power relations are performed in this context? The nation and the national culture are drawn in which regimes of representation? What's the role of literature and these writers in the formation of national states? The research will be bibliographical and will promote the content analyses of the novels by means of the post-colonial theory, cultural studies and literary studies.
