Abstract

The increasing accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO¿) in the atmosphere, exacerbated by the burning of fossil fuels, has contributed to climate change, including global warming and ocean acidification. In response, there is an intense search for the development of technologies to capture and convert CO¿ into useful compounds, such as CH¿OH, CH¿, and CO. The use of heterogeneous catalysts, such as those based on transition metals, can improve the selectivity of these processes. The combination of Rh with sodium zeolites, which have controlled basicity and microporous structures, is a promising approach to optimize the selectivity of C1 compounds during CO¿ conversion. This proposal aims to modify H-ZSM-5 zeolite by altering its basicity and incorporating Rh in a controlled manner to create isolated active sites or clusters, studying the impact of different configurations on product selectivity. The catalysts will be evaluated by physical and chemical characterization techniques to understand their structural properties and correlate them with the observed catalytic activities. Additionally, the efficiency of the catalysts in different reaction configurations will be analyzed, aiming to optimize CO¿ capture and conversion under mild conditions.
