Abstract

Judo, whose etymology is "The Gentle Way" in its most faithful translation, is a Japanese martial art created and developed by Jigoro Kano at the end of the 19th century. One of the principles of Judo is the use of the force generated by the movement of the opponent against himself. It is a martial art that has at its core understandings about falls, posture, grips, imbalances, impulses, projections, among other concepts that relate to the notion of the body that we have in dance. Therefore, the research seeks to relate the fundamentals of Judo to the body arts, observing how understanding and experiencing this martial art can enhance research in the world of dance.
