Abstract

This thesis project aims to investigate the existence of a theory of fiction within the critical and fictional works of the Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia. The hypothesis is that such a theory is dispersed throughout the author's novels, short stories and non-fictional writings, as well as in his diaries, which were the last texts published during Piglia's lifetime. Therefore, we start from the perspective that defining the concept of fiction for the author directly engages with the issue of the relationship between fictional and non-fictional discourses. For Piglia, contemplating fiction necessarily involves considering its connections with history and politics through the lens of conspiracy, paranoia, and intrigue. (AU)
