Abstract

The global effects of climate change, loss of biodiversity and the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources have raised concerns regarding the advancement of urbanization and the intensive use of land, challenging traditional government structures in decision-making regarding planned actions. Considering the urgency in tackling these issues, policy makers and local governments have been developing important initiatives, but still based on traditional management models. In this sense, the Reconecta Program stands out, which consists of the implementation of ecological connectivity corridors throughout the Metropolitan Region of Campinas, developed through technical cooperation between municipalities, with support from the Interact-Bio Project, implemented by ICLEI - Latin America . Launched in 2016, the Project has not been effective. The objective of this research is to propose a governance model for the implementation and management of the ecological connectivity area in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas. To this end, the research will use the Design Science Research method supported by a systematic literature review, document analysis and data analysis. The research aims to contribute to the improvement of metropolitan governance in territories that seek to develop ecological landscape planning. In addition to the interpretation of conflicts and opportunities in the territory and its interface with governmental and environmental aspects, the aim is to encourage discussions on green infrastructure strategies in facing emerging challenges at a local and global level.
