Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the provision of ecosystem services in urban green areas, with an emphasis on pollination, flood mitigation and carbon storage. Using the Landscape Assessment Protocol (LAP) and the InVEST software, this research will be carried out in two urban areas: the Ribeirão das Pedras watershed in Campinas, Brazil, and the Cértima River in Coimbra, Portugal. The methodology involves a bibliographic survey, fieldwork and comparative analysis of data, with a focus on identifying key indicators to understand the dynamics of supply and demand of services in different urban contexts. The comparison between the two areas aims to explore the similarities and differences in the provision of ecosystem services, expanding knowledge about the role of green areas in urban quality of life and environmental sustainability. The results are expected to contribute to the development of conservation strategies and sustainable management of green areas, with a view to improving environmental quality in both cities.
