Abstract

Sulfones are functional groups present in several fields of application. However, although there are several methodologies for oxidizing sulfides to sulfones, each of them has limitations, such as excess of oxidizing agent, high temperatures, long reaction times, high toxicity and problems with scalability. Therefore, in this work we propose an alternative methodology using iron-based catalysis for the oxidation of sulfides to sulfones in a biomimetic manner.
