Abstract

This research project proposes a model-based predictive control (MPC) approach for controlling a step-up converter in a grid-integrated photovoltaic system. The MPC controller is designed using the converter's time discrete mathematical model. It enables the control of the renewable energy source's output voltage and current by manipulating the converter switch's duty cycle. The project will possible explore the potential of this tecnique for maximum power tracking and grid synchronization strategies as an alternative to existing methods. The proposal will be validated through simulation results using advanced computer models and experimental bench tests.
