Abstract

Given the similarities in the processes of urbanization and the consolidation of housing policies in Latin American countries, comparative research on experiences of interventions in informal settlements is essential. This internationalization proposal aims to analyze the impacts of the Socio-Urban Integration Program (PISU) on the popular settlements of La Plata (Argentina, Province of Buenos Aires), focusing on the case studies of Puente de Fierro, El Molino, and Ringuelet. Employing an empirical and qualitative methodological approach, the research will concentrate on understanding local dynamics, the current state of interventions, and the adequacy of the actions taken to address the housing needs of the population. Fieldwork will be conducted over eight weeks, including technical visits to collect data on housing conditions, urban infrastructure, and available services through direct observation, semi-structured interviews and on-site analysis. The expected outcomes will not only contribute to achieving the project objectives but also support the comparative analysis within the scope of the primary master's research, fostering an exchange of experiences between Brazil and Argentina in interventions in informal settlements.
