Abstract

The scholarship (IC) will be linked to the activities of the Preparation Phase/Objective 2: Identifying opportunities and challenges at the systemic, organizational, and individual levels that may support or hinder the implementation and adoption of initiatives in the food retail sector. As part of this objective, the aim is to map the characteristics that influence consumer behavior in food retail environments, providing an understanding of the underlying dynamics. To methodologically assess the subjective aspects of the food environment, such as individuals' perceptions of the factors influencing their food choices, various instruments can be utilized. Among them, validated questionnaires and scales stand out, including those adapted for use in Brazil, such as the Perceived Nutrition Environment Measures Survey (NEMS-P), an effective tool for measuring consumers' perceptions of food availability and accessibility within the retail environment. The primary objective of this research project is to conduct a scoping review of the literature to identify and analyze studies that examine consumers' perceptions of food environments. The review will emphasize the exploration of measurement instruments and the systematization of reported perceptions in the scientific literature.
