Abstract

The aim of this project is a two-and-a-half-month internship in Paris, at ITEM/CNRS, under the supervision of Claude Coste, to develop and disseminate bibliographical and documentary research on the relationship between critics Leyla Perrone-Moisés, Beatriz Sarlo and Susan Sontag and their great mentor, Roland Barthes. The bibliographical research will focus on theoretical studies on the circulation of ideas and texts, based on the works of Pierre Bourdieu, Gisèle Sapiro and Pascale Casanova; the documentary research will focus on Barthes' archive (deposited in the National Library of France) and his relations with his interlocutors on the American continent (based on his library, correspondence, travel notes, reading sheets). As well as carrying out the research, the internship includes participation in three events on the subject: in Leeds, Novi Sad and Seoul, which will be funded by resources already granted from other projects (FAPESP, CNPq, PROEX).
