Abstract

This study investigates the acquisition and development of oral language in children enrolled in bilingual schools in Brazil. The research focuses on the analysis of simultaneous and successive bilingualism, considering the factors influencing linguistic proficiency in both languages. Based on scientific evidence, the study discusses the influence of the school environment, the importance of the age of exposure to the second language, and the role of speech therapists in this process. The methodology adopted is a quantitative-qualitative, retrospective, and cross-sectional study, with data collection through questionnaires applied to teachers and speech therapists in a bilingual institution. The data will be analyzed based on linguistic aspects such as phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The expected results aim to contribute to the improvement of educational strategies in bilingual schools, providing insights for educators and healthcare professionals in children's language development.
