Abstract

The use of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and moringa oil in the fabrication of polymeric films has shown promising potential for cosmetic applications. PLLA, a biodegradable biopolymer with low toxicity and excellent biological compatibility, combined with moringa oil-known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and wound-healing properties-offers significant potential for the development of innovative and sustainable cosmetic products. The airbrushing technique emerges as an efficient and eco-friendly approach for producing these films, allowing precise control over thickness, uniformity, and final material properties. This technique involves spraying polymer solutions, forming fibers as the solvent evaporates, resulting in homogeneous and translucent films ideal for cosmetic applications. Optimizing operational conditions, such as the solvent-to-PLLA ratio, airbrush pressure, and the distance between the airbrush and the collection surface, is essential to ensure desirable properties such as breathability, moisture absorption, and controlled release of active compounds. The developed films will be characterized in terms of their mechanical properties, thickness, antioxidant capacity, water absorption, water vapor permeability, and cytotoxicity, targeting applications ranging from skin hydration and rejuvenation to improving the appearance of scars. This project aims to promote the development of natural and sustainable products, aligning with current demands for innovative and environmentally responsible solutions in the cosmetic industry.
