Abstract

Manipulating the internal state of atoms is a powerful tool when dealing with ultracold atomic systems. Radiofrequency and microwave transitions are widely used with this purpose enabling a partial or a full transfer between the different hyperfine states. This technique can be used to produce atomic mixtures of the same atomic species and to selectively image a fraction of the atomic cloud in an almost non-destructive imaging technique. In this scientific initiation project, we will develop a highly efficient radiofrequency chain able to perform hyperfine state transfers between the two main ground-states of potassium-39 at about 460 MHz with ¿¿-pulses of the order of a few microseconds.
