Abstract

In this project, we propose the development of innovative syntheses of 3 important active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that make up the drug kit for public calamity situations, as defined by the Ministry of Health in Brazil. Our proposal involves the study in both batch and continuous flow regimes, using sustainable processes such as electrosynthesis and photocatalysis in the synthetic routes. In the first subproject, we propose the production of Glibenclamide in a protocol in which the isocyanate, an important intermediate in classical syntheses, is generated in situ via electroflow. In subproject 2, we aim to obtain Albendazole through a mixed strategy of protocols already reported in the literature and new synthetic approaches. Finally, in subproject 3, our strategy encompasses 3 electrosynthesis steps to obtain Metoclopramide, aiming to obtain this API in a totally innovative protocol. It is worth noting that the recent methodologies, photocatalytic and electrochemical reactors (batch and flow) developed at LQBO and Nöel's group will be applied in these studies in order to achieve the desired targets. This project is aligned with high technologies and current demands of society, providing this postdoctoral student with in-depth knowledge of high-level and state-of-the-art chemical synthesis (use of enabling technologies in synthesis, such as Flow Chemistry).
