Abstract

Spatial light modulators are the main tools for the coherent manipulation of laser beams in their different degrees of freedom. In this project, we will investigate the use of spatial modulators to faithfully generate and measure transverse modes of the electromagnetic field. To achieve this task, we will study different holographic methods for structuring with spatial modulators, including indirect amplitude modulation of the field, as well as the correction of aberrations inherent to these devices. The ultimate goal of this project is to master the instrumentation of spatial modulators and concepts such as holography, diffraction theory, and the tomographic reconstruction process of quantum and classical states of light.
