Abstract

This research project uses the One Health approach to investigate the epidemiology of Brazilian spotted fever and Q fever in indigenous and quilombola communities in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The study includes the collection of blood samples, ticks, vaginal swabs, feces and environmental samples for molecular and serological analysis of Rickettsia spp. and Coxiella burnetii. The research will also carry out genetic sequencing, genotyping and the construction of phylogenetic trees to understand the dynamics of transmission and the associated risk factors. In addition, the project seeks to correlate epidemiological findings with geographical determinants through georeferencing and statistical analysis. This work aims to fill critical gaps in the understanding of the epidemiology of these zoonoses and their effects on vulnerable populations, strengthen epidemiological surveillance strategies and propose interventions adapted to the cultural and environmental specificities of these communities. Dissemination of the results will include scientific papers, outreach actions and health education to promote public and animal health. (AU)
