Abstract

This international internship project primarily aims to expand and deepen the investigations conducted in the postdoctoral research I have been developing in Brazil regarding the increasingly inseparable relationship between law and digital tools (especially those involving artificial intelligence) in the Brazilian justice system. I am particularly interested in how this data-driven justice connects to what is contemporarily defined as democracy, as well as its demands for access, standardization, and speed. To this end, during my time abroad, I propose to explore the concept of data more thoroughly, both bibliographically and ethnographically, engaging with discussions led by researchers such as Tone Walford (University College London) and Isadora Cruxên (Queen Mary University of London). I also intend to include materials on the British justice system and its relationship with AI tools in my research archive. Additionally, the BEPE period aims to internationalize my own research and expand the international networks of the GEICT and Hybris research groups, to which I am affiliated.
