Abstract

This research project aims to investigate the properties and applications of nonlinearities in silicon-based optomechanical resonators and their integration into optical reservoir computing with time-delay systems. The project will be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Cefe López at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM). Our research group has previously collaborated with Prof. López, providing a strong foundation for the proposed work. During the internship, the focus will be on the theoretical study of the nonlinear dynamics of optomechanics, as well as the characterization and comparison of theoretical models with experimental results. The ultimate objective is to set up a photonic circuit capable of computing a Mackey-Glass series within a time-delay reservoir computing scheme and compare the results with other reservoir computing approaches. The collaboration with Prof. López is closely aligned with the original research plan in Brazil (topics 4.5 and 7.1), ensuring comprehensive progress in the study of nonlinearities and photonic neural networks, as well as the development of a photonic reservoir computer. The knowledge gained has the potential to enhance the research capabilities and academic gains of the student, contributing to the end goal of the research proposal in Brazil. (AU)
