Abstract

This project aims to characterize the usual operating conditions of the electricalsubmersible pumping (ESP) in typical operational situations, determining parametersand properties of the analyzed signals that represent the situation without anomalies, that is, the situation considered "healthy" and signal variations that can indicateanomalous situations.Operating data, such as temperature, pressure, current and vibration in the pump, andtemperature and pressure at the wellhead, would be used to determine thecharacteristics and properties in the time domain that may indicate the differentoperating conditions. The recorded signals' statistical and numerical properties wouldbe calculated to define the expected patterns.Analysis using frequency domain techniques would be performed to quantify theproperties of spectra and spectrograms typical of usual operating conditions. The processing of the signals involved must consider the difficulties associated withlarge datasets that may have corrupted segments due to measurement problems.Given the complexity and variability existing in the process, it is believed that theknowledge of the classification of the properties of the signals through numericalindicators can provide elements for a system of diagnosis and alert of changes in thebehavior of the pumping system. The effect of data variability and corrupted datasets must be evaluated on theconsidered properties of the recorded signals.
