Abstract

Each type of soil cover generates its own microclimate in the boundary layer, the replacement of forests by low vegetation for agricultural purposes in different regions around the globe must have led to alterations of the different microclimates of the boundary layer with consequences for the thermal comfort in open environments. This work aims to verify how the different soil covers, forests and pasture, mould the microclimates under the boundary layer in tropical regions and how it can affect the thermal comfort in open environments. The method is based in field data collection using a digital thermo hygrometer and an infrared thermometer, organization of the collected data in tables and graphics and usage of the work developed by Nikolopoulou e Lykoudis (2005) to make some considerations about the thermal comfort. It is expected to demonstrate during this study how the changes in soil cover also changed the microclimates of the boundary layer of tropical regions and what are the consequences for thermal comfort.
