Abstract

Cloud chambers are devices in which it is possible to observe tracks of subatomic particles. These devices were among the first artefacts for particle detection, and are still used today with great success for teaching demonstrations. The simplest chambers use dry ice to create the appropriate environment for viewing particle tracks. However, due to the speed of sublimation and difficulty in storing dry ice, they are not always as efficient. The proposal of this project is to replace dry ice with Peltier modules, which would guarantee a functional device and would not limit the use of the cloud chamber. (AU)
