Abstract

Empirical evidence shows that innovation systems can exhibit varying characteristics, and that this variation is reflected in different growth performances. At the same time, developing countries, such as Brazil, are characterized by strong regional heterogeneity. Based on these considerations, the present study aims to characterize the state-level innovation systems through selected indicators.
