Abstract

The bioeconomy is a contested concept, used in distinct ways according to different sociopolitical contexts. In the environmental sphere, the term "socio-bioeconomy" describes those initiatives based on the livelihoods and knowledge of traditional communities that simultaneously preserve and use local resources of biodiversity. This project aims to analyze the value chains of forest oils and butters in the Lower Amazon region, addressing production, processing, commercialization, and associated ecosystem services. This research will be conducted in collaboration with ACOSPER (Cooperativa dos Trabalhadores Agroextrativistas do Oeste do Pará) and the Saúde e Alegria Project, in Santarém, PA, and its surrounding areas. ACOSPER is a cooperative formed by local communities of small-scale farmers and forest farmers. The study seeks to strengthen these value chains, contributing to sustainable and inclusive local economies through the co-production of knowledge among rural communities and partners, both national and international.
