Abstract

The hydrological cycle has been facing significant challenges due to the excessive use of water and extreme climate change causing its scarcity. Water security refers to ensuring the availability of water in adequate quantity and quality to sustain life and productive activities, requiring actions to mitigate risks. Thus, improving water resource management becomes essential, particularly if it can count on the development and monitoring of hydrological monitoring tools that support decision-making in a faster and more accurate way, based on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). In addition to knowing innovative ICT technologies and the Brazilian reality regarding their use, knowing the reality of another country is essential. Thus, the activity plan aims to identify the ICTs used to automate the monitoring and data collection of water resources in the Lisbon region, Portugal, which includes technical visits to learn about existing ICTs and exploring the potential of emerging technologies according to local experts. This is, methodologically, an applied and exploratory research whose study data are of a quantitative and qualitative nature and will be obtained from interviews, analysis of the collected data and presentation of results. As a result, it is expected to present a comprehensive report with the existing ICT solutions for water management in Lisbon. (AU)
