Abstract

The influence of sex hormones on breathing is still not fully understood, especially in multifactorial pathological contexts such as Parkinson's disease (PD). Efforts should be made to study these phenomena, as they directly affect patient prognosis and survival, with the aim of developing the best possible treatments. In this context, the objectives proposed in this direct PhD project include:- Investigate the development of the 6-OHDA model in aged intact and ovariectomized female mice and compare it with males of the same age.- Assess the effect of ovariectomy on functional and neuroanatomical respiratory parameters in the 6-OHDA model.- Evaluate the effect of estrogen injection in ovariectomized females on functional and neuroanatomical respiratory parameters in the 6-OHDA model.
