Abstract

This project aims to investigate and propose ways to address the current crisis of meaning in science education, exploring approaches that futurize science teaching and integrate emerging themes such as environmental issues and interculturality, seeking to collaborate in the construction of new proposals for teacher training, focusing on methodologies that promote a more critical, reflective science education capable of forming conscious citizens in the face of contemporary global challenges. Linked to the FAPESP Thematic Project (2022/06977-5), the Public Education Program (2023/10662-2) and the international project CLIMAFOCO (ERASMUS - 10123724), the study uses the Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology and proposes a theoretical deepening in the field of future-oriented science teaching, as well as the analysis of educational projects developed in Brazil in the light of the theoretical perspectives discussed with Levrini's research group (UNIBO). The project incorporates environmental perspectives and an intercultural perspective, reinforcing the dialog between science, society and different forms of knowledge. Collaboration with Olivia Levrini's group (University of Bologna) and participation in the CLIMAFOCUS project (ERASMUS) will broaden international connections and strengthen teacher training in Brazil. It is hoped that the results of the study will contribute to both research and the formulation of public policies, promoting innovations that enhance science teaching as a transformative tool in the construction of possible futures.
