Abstract

This Masters research Project aims to investigate how José de Souza Martins's historical and sociological discoveries on land property in Brazil can be beneficial when one comes to think about problems concerning urbanization. This research seeks to assist in the endeavor to understand the historical and social place of "modern land property"; regarding Brazilian urbanization and its contradictory nature. This understanding seems to be indispensable to conceive social violence which is inherent to Brazilian cities production.
