Abstract

Some scholars argue that the green transition may open windows of opportunity for developing countries. However, sectors primarily related to the energy transition exhibit strong interdependence with other sectors, characterizing a complex chain that involves everything from mineral extraction to more sophisticated technologies. The main objective of this project is to understand the organization of the wind and solar energy chains. More specifically, the project aims to: (1) identify the products and technologies related to these chains in which Brazil has established competencies; and (2) map the spatial organization of these chains at the national level. To this end, an extensive literature review will be conducted to understand the functioning of the production chains of these two forms of energy. In addition, import and export data from SECEX and patent data from INPI will be collected.
