Abstract

H2V has gained a lot of interest in Latin America, attracting attention from academia, political and business sectors, meeting global interest in renewable energy sources, energy transition and decarbonization. Many Latin America countries are rich in natural resources and energy sources, such as solar and wind, and where H2V production is positioned as a strategic alternative. This alternative can benefit at a local level and also open doors for some countries to become exporters. At the same time, these issues have become a point of attention for governments, companies and organizations that are investing in research and development of technological solutions in the H2V production chain. There are also collaboration initiatives between countries, seeking to boost joint research, to find solutions and collaborative business models. In this context, the proposed research seeks to carry out integrated analysis on regulatory, technological, economic, environmental and productive aspects, associated with H2V production, within the scope of Mercosur. From a regional and interdisciplinary perspective, the research proposes identifying strategic opportunities and addressing specific and particular challenges, so that H2V can be established as a sustainable energy resource in Mercosur countries. The focus of the research seeks to understand the effective integration of H2V production into the national energy matrix, in addition to identifying possibilities for use in industrial sectors, so that H2V is established as a fuel, bringing positive impacts, from the aspects that are the focus of research. The aim is also to generate opportunities to advance in the H2V value chain, as a key to reindustrialization in the sustainable energy sector, according to the particularities of each region and/or country. In this way, we not only seek to understand the challenges inherent to the process, but also identify and demonstrate opportunities for a fair energy transition to occur. (AU)
