Abstract

Scientific communication plays a fundamental role in the democratization of knowledge and the promotion of healthy habits. Given the rise of fake news and misinformation, it is essential to adopt accessible and effective strategies to transmit evidence-based information. In this scenario, podcasts stand out as a versatile and attractive tool, allowing the dissemination of content in an engaging and accessible way for different audiences. This proposal is part of the Fish for Health project, funded by FAPESP, which seeks to encourage fish consumption as a healthy and sustainable option. The podcast will be a tool for scientific dissemination, highlighting the nutritional benefits of fish and its role in preventing chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Rich in high-value proteins, omega-3, vitamins, and minerals, this food contributes to cardiovascular health, immunity, and cognitive outcomes. However, its consumption in Brazil is still below WHO recommendations due to misinformation, poor eating habits, and contamination concerns. In light of this, the podcast aims to demystify myths and promote conscious consumption. The flexibility of podcasts allows them to reach diverse audiences, especially those with busy routines. Studies indicate that 80% of listeners use this medium to acquire knowledge, reinforcing its potential for scientific dissemination. The 12 planned episodes will address topics such as the nutritional benefits of fish, sustainability in fishing and aquaculture, the positive environmental impacts of responsible consumption, and practical and accessible recipes. The language used will be clear and didactic, seeking to reach a broad audience, including women, children, and adolescents, groups for whom eating fish is especially beneficial. Aligned with FAPESP guidelines, the proposal seeks to promote innovative scientific communication and encourage healthier and more sustainable eating habits, strengthening awareness of the benefits of fish.
