Evaluation of the mineral content of bleached enamel after the application of an experimental baicalein-based remineralizing gel

Abstract

This study will evaluate the influence of baicalein (BA) on the mineral recovery of bleached enamel considering microhardness and roughness. Methodology: 144 specimens composed of enamel and dentin from bovine teeth will be prepared, being: 72 for color and roughness analysis; 72 for microhardness analysis and, for each group, surface changes will be evaluated in MEV (n = 3) and the mineral composition of the bleached enamel in EDS (n = 3). The specimens will be randomly distributed into six groups: Positive control (PC) - without bleaching and remineralizing treatment; Negative control (NC) - bleaching treatment, without remineralizing treatment; group (HP35% + NaF 2% + 10' and HP35% + NaF 2% + 20)' - application of 2% sodium fluoride for 10 or 20 minutes, respectively, after bleaching treatment with HP35%; group (HP35% +BA + 10 and HP35% +BA + 20'), application of the experimental baicalein gel of 20 mM for 10 or 20 minutes, respectively, after the bleaching treatment with HP35%. Color analyses (¿E00 and ¿WID) will be performed at different times (baseline, after bleaching and after application of the remineralizing agent); surface roughness (Ra) analyses before and after bleaching; microhardness (KHN) with Knoop microhardness tester; and morphological and chemical evaluation of the surfaces by MEV/EDS. Statistical analysis will be performed with a significance level of 5% (p < 0.05). (AU)
