Abstract

The project aims to develop simplified models for sizing preliminary concepts of floating platforms for offshore power generation, combining thermoelectric plants with carbon capture systems, coupled with other ocean-based renewable energy generation systems. The central objective is to establish correlations between the dimensions and masses of onboard equipment and the geometric and mass characteristics of the hull and mooring system. To this end, the work will be organized into five stages. Initially, a literature review is planned, covering scientific literature and technical standards. Next, an analysis of the environmental conditions at the installation site will be carried out, using long-term numerical databases such as ERA5. Subsequently, the technical specifications of the equipment to be installed-defined by the project's electrical and thermal teams-will be compiled. The following stage will consist of a sensitivity study, based on parametric models previously developed by the research team, to evaluate the influence of the installed equipment's characteristics on the platform's dimensions and mooring systems. Finally, simplified models will be developed to correlate the characteristics of the equipment with the mass properties and configuration of the floating and mooring systems, enabling preliminary cost estimates.
