Abstract

The ability to critically analyze information is essential for maintaining an informed and democratic society. The use of games is a widely used approach to exercise literacy skills (academic, digital, literary, media, etc.). Despite several approaches in the literature, there is a promising opportunity that needs to be explored: providing more open and less deterministic interactions. The objective of this research is to propose the design of a critical socioenactive game as a tool to actively exercise the literacy skills of the player. The gameplay will involve not only consuming content, but also its production. A systematic review of the literature on games for literacy will be carried out. Subsequently, a critical socioenactive game for this theme will be designed and evaluated, possibly integrated with Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies in order to promote open and dynamic interactions. As a contribution, in addition to the game as a scenario and its technical artifacts, an understanding of games and the act of playing beyond the concepts of serious games and gamification is expected, dialoguing with literacy references, and valuing concepts such as free exploration and the autonomy of the player.
