Abstract

The project contains the experimental steps for training the candidate on 1) preparation (weighing-compacting-sintering) zirconia: 3 mol% yttria (3YSZ) ceramics; 2) structural characterization of 3YSZ ceramics by the X-ray diffraction technique, 3) preparation of porous ceramics by thermal remotion of graphite added to 3YSZ, 4) thermal impregnation of eutectic composition of lithium-sodium-potassium carbonates into the pores, 5) impedance spectroscopy analysis of 3YSZ ceramics without and with impregnation of the carbonates, and 6) tests of carbon dioxide capture and analysis in mass spectrometer. The main goal is training the candidate on preparation of membrane ceramics to be used as carbon dioxide detection.
