Abstract

Considering the growing environmental degradation that threatens the biodiversity and ecosystem services of mangroves and coastal areas, the lack of accessible knowledge for society about their importance contributes to harmful practices and ineffective public policies. In this context, it is essential to include these topics in high school education, promoting students' awareness and encouraging their active role in the conservation of these ecosystems. This research aims to develop a pedagogical materials kit for high school, promoting interdisciplinarity among the Natural Sciences and their Technologies, as well as proposing teaching strategies that facilitate content assimilation and encourage students' critical and reflective thinking regarding the conservation of mangroves and coastal zones. The educational kit "Exploring Mangroves and Coastal Zones" will be developed to support teachers in addressing the conservation of these ecosystems in the classroom. It will include interactive materials and didactic resources such as an educational video, teacher's guide, field journal, games, playful materials, and proposals for experiments.
