Abstract

Experiments with ultracold gases offer a platform with a high level of control over their properties, as well as refined techniques for manipulating and detecting these systems. In this regard, the use of spatial light modulation devices, such as SLMs and DMDs (digital micromirror devices), has made it possible to generate arbitrary optical potentials for both atomic trapping and localized perturbations in the system. Thus, this BEPE project envisions the implementation of a DMD in an experiment with ultracold lithium-6 gases in order to generate arbitrary potentials. The UNAM experiment led by Prof. Dr. Jorge A. S. Harutinian routinely produces ultracold fermion gases along the BEC-BCS transition, and the student will add the DMD optical system to the experiment as well as its control mechanism to the existing experimental sequence. The student will also be involved in other laboratory activities during the period in which they are conducting the BEPE.
