Abstract

This project aims to obtain a Research Fellowship Internship Abroad to support the development of activities related to the post-doctoral research entitled "A Framework for Sustainability of Systematic Literature Reviews" (FAPESP Process no. 2025/06946-0). The research internship will be conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Patricia Lago at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands, from January 15, 2026, to January 14, 2027. The proposal is aligned with the candidate's post-doctoral project, focusing on the evaluation and refinement of a framework to guide sustainable Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs). This framework intends to provide means for researchers means to identify and conduct sustainable SLR, i.e., less costly, long-standing, and relevant for the target audience. More specifically, a framework will be proposed containing methods to identify, through Key Process Indicators for sustainable SLR processes, as well as a model to evolve the SLR process into a more sustainable one. The research abroad will provide the opportunity to collaborate with Prof. Lago's group, which has extensive experience with the SLR process and is pioneering the research in software sustainability, thereby enriching the theoretical and practical foundations of the framework. Prof. Dr. Patricia Lago is a distinguished leader in sustainable software engineering. She is the founder and director of the Digital Sustainability Center (DiSC) and heads the Software and Sustainability Research Group (S2) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Patricia led large-scale international projects, such as the Erasmus Mundus SE4GD program, and published extensively with over 300 papers and an h-index of 51. Prof. Lago's research focuses on integrating sustainability into software engineering processes. This international research stage will allow the candidate to deepen collaboration with Prof. Lago, validate the sustainability framework for SLRs with experienced researchers, and contribute to advancing the field of sustainable research practices.
