Abstract

The pos-doc will develop paleoclimate dynamical downscaling for past warm climates to obtain a long-term climate perspective of the air-sea interactions in the South Atlantic and its impact on extreme events over Brazil. PMIP4-GCM will provide the initial and boundary conditions for downscaling, while simulations will be validated using proxy data available for the project. The downscaling will provide data to analyze the controls of the ocean on extreme events in Brazil. This project has various scientific and technological challenges since it is necessary to adapt and develop new algorithm interfaces for paleoclimate simulations.
